Lanciano is, after the capital, the most important town in the province of Chieti. Situated on a hill at about ten kilometers from the sea, the town has a flourishing trade and there are many fairs that take place during the year. But this center is primarily a cradle of art for the presence of numerous monuments, starting from the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle. In the eighth century a consecrated host became clotted blood which is now kept in a monstrance, which is admired by thousands of faithful. Lanciano has a long history as evidenced by the excavations carried out in recent years. And 'the old Anxanum, capital of the people of Frentania, who later became an important zone for the Romans.

Platforms are detached from the antennas that support networks through a complicated system of pulleys and ropes. During the summer some Trabocchi are open for tours during which the "bursting" to tell the story, the events that characterize "the life" of the overflow and, when possible, will simulate the "fell" overboard networks. On some dinners are organized where overflowing with dishes of local maritime traditions.

Hiking holidays: The "National Park of Abruzzo"
The Abruzzo National Park is the protected area's most famous and oldest in Italy. Patriarch of Italian parks, was born September 9, 1922 under the chairmanship of the engineer and deputy Abruzzo Erminio curtains and was officially established by Royal Decree no. 257, January 11, 1923. Today it covers about 60,000 hectares with a range of external protection that reaches almost 104,000 hectares of protected nature. Gravity of the three regions (Abruzzo - Lazio - Molise) and occupies territories of many mountain villages.
The effort operated by the Park over the years has been evidence in both national and international character, and today is considered a pilot for the park other Italian and European protected areas. Also holds since 1977 the "European Diploma for the conservation of nature", given by the Council of Europe. And 'possible to enjoy the magnificent scenery via an easy walking route, accompanied by the sounds of nature and away from the deafening noise of cars, motorcycles and buses. The chain of Camosciara, along with neighboring Val di Rose and Valle Iannanghera are places of "worship" of the protected area, where you can watch with wonder a few meters away and in all seasons, beautiful specimens of Abruzzo chamois, " chamois world's most beautiful ", which thanks to the work of the Park, has now reached the significant population of about 700 individuals. Unlike the parks of the Alps, where the hard, snowy winter climate makes the area inaccessible, you can visit the National Park of Abruzzo, with proper equipment, all year long enough to appreciate the evolution of the different seasons with the countless shades of colors and the many "tunes" of nature. We recommend, however, to exclude holiday periods particularly crowded because it is preferable to choose the spring and early summer, when nature awakens with rich flowers and songs of birds or the autumn when the forests are dressed in bright and warm colors. In these periods, in addition to the quiet, you can count on more accurate by operators. The fauna of the Abruzzo National Park offers special features for exceptional value. Visitors have the opportunity to easily see the animals, however, in some periods of the year and in special situations of peace, silence and respect for the environment can also see the most spectacular animals and representative of the Park. And 'in fact preferable to starting off the season with less during peak season and especially well informed. A well-prepared and organized tour offers the best opportunity to explore and discover the true essence of the park. The Park Authority and local cooperatives offer many programs and activities for all ages and all levels. The most famous animal and symbol of the Park is the Marsicano brown bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus). The encounter with the bear though very rarely offers unparalleled excitement. Among the fauna of the park deserves the second place in importance, the Abruzzo chamois (Rupicapra ornata). The horns exceptionally developed, the color of the winter coat and other features set it apart from all other chamois, deserving the appellation of "the most beautiful chamois in the world." The precious fauna of the region that bears, chamois, red deer, roe deer, wolves, wild cats, lynx, snow voles, otters, martens, citing only the rarest mammals and valuable for their scientific value and nature, has not equal at least between the Apennine region of Abruzzo and is a treasure trove for the conservation of rare species. The flora of the Abruzzo National Park is certainly one of the richest and most interesting in Italy. In fact there are over 1,200 species of higher plants. The vegetation of the park is mostly covered by forests of beech (Fagus sylvatica). This is indeed the most comune.Generalmente tree grows between 900 and 1,800 meters above sea level and occupies 60% of the protected area, contributing to the passing of the seasons, creating a landscape full of color. Other tree species throughout the area are mountain maple, Turkey oak and birch. There are also some endemic, species found only in some areas of the park. This is the black pine (Pinus nigra) and Villetta Barrea Mountain pine (Pinus mugo), species belonging to the ice ages. A feature not less striking and showy flora of the Park is provided by abundant and colorful flowers. Numerous and colorful orchids, of which the most beautiful, great and rare indeed is the Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium calceous). The iris of the Marsi (Iris Marsica) and even the red lily, the Gentian, the beautiful Apennine gentian, the Zafferanastro yellow, buttercup Maiella, the Genzianella spring. In addition to higher plants have been studied and documented 342 species of fungi, 57 of microfungi, 151 lichens, 174 mosses, 80 algae, 36 of liver.
